Walid has been part of the Playfair family as an independent subcontractor for years, until he decided to take the plunge and come on board with us in a permanent role in 2018. Based in our office in Dandenong, Walid assists our clients near Melbourne and surrounds as Playfair’s manager in Victoria.
Walid attended the University of South Australia in Adelaide and participated in a European exchange programme at the European Business School for Business and Law in Germany. After obtaining his Bachelor of Laws and International Relations, Walid moved to Victoria and was admitted as a solicitor in Victoria in 2014.
Walid has gained specific experience in refugee protection claims, judicial review and general migration law. He specialises in Protection Visas and has represented clients at numerous Departmental interviews and various appeal procedures, including highly vulnerable clients identified by the Commonwealth under its PAIS program.
Walid was born and raised in Australia, but his Afghani heritage fuelled his love for the Afghan musical instrument Rhubab and a passion for ethnomusicology. One of the most remarkable features of Walid is his ability to connect with our clients. He is a true linguist, fluent in English, Pashto, Dari and Hazaraghi and he even speaks a bit of Farsi. His customer service level is impeccable, and our clients appreciate his perseverance and his detailed legal knowledge.
